Troy Button
Troy is a mentor at HIRE Hockey, a financial advisor, and a professional hockey player in the SPHL. Where he recently has finished his season for the Pensacola Ice Flyers and has logged over 100 professional games. Troy grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan where he began his journey of hockey at the age of 2 years old. Growing up, and never playing at the AAA level, Troy played AA and made the switch to high school when he was a sophomore in high school. He eventually began the captain of his high school hockey, football, & golf program. Where he accumulated a handful of All-Division, All-League, & All-State honors in those respective Varsity sports. He started his junior career post high school graduation at the age of 18 moving to Northern Ontario to compete in the NOJHL Jr. A league in Canada. He played for the Elliot Lake Wildcats for two seasons. Where he went on to be named the team captain in his second season, and he currently holds a franchise record for the Elliot Lake Wildcats for most games played. He then continued his hockey career playing NCAA Division 3 for The State University of New York at Buffalo (Buffalo State). Being named captain of the team in his final season with the Bengals, he also was named Men’s Scholar Athlete of the year at Buffalo State. He graduated from Buffalo State with a cumulative 4.0 GPA & Bachelor of Science in Economics & Finance. He has worked with mentors throughout his hockey career that have helped give him guidance and direction to his individual development. He is excited for the opportunity to pass along what he has learned through his unique and non-traditional hockey path to the next generation of players. He has over 10 years of coaching experience working 6 years at a player development facility, located in Wixom, Michigan, as an individual instructor for skill development. He has over 4 years-experience behind the bench as a local consultant for various Michigan High School hockey programs.
