Cameron, the founder of HIRE Hockey, boasts a diverse background in professional hockey and a passion for player development. Originating from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Cameron's journey in hockey began in earnest when he moved to the United States in 2008. He swiftly immersed himself in the sport, joining the NH Jr Monarchs Empire Junior team at just 13 years old, followed by a stint with the 18U Buffalo Junior Sabres at 15. It was during this time that Cameron showcased his talent, leading the Junior Sabres in points.
Transitioning to the NAHL at the age of 16, Cameron became a pivotal member of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, contributing to one of the most successful teams in NAHL history, culminating in a National Championship (Robertson Cup) win during the 2015-2016 season. Cameron continued to excel in the NAHL, serving as an Assistant Captain for the Shreveport Mudbugs. In just the franchise's second year in the league, he played a significant leadership role in securing another National Championship in the 2017-2018 season, earning his second Robertson Cup in three seasons.
After completing his junior career, Cameron pursued higher education at Niagara University, where he balanced his academic pursuits with his hockey career as he pursued a Bachelor’s in Psychology.
Throughout his playing career, Cameron has dedicated substantial time to coaching and mentoring youth hockey players, accumulating over 8 years of coaching experience in Rochester, New York. His passion for mentorship stems from the invaluable role it played in his own development as a player. Cameron's coaching philosophy emphasizes not only on-ice skills but also mental performance and personal development.
To enhance his ability to serve his clients, Cameron is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports Management/Athlete Performance while actively playing professional hockey. Additionally, he is working towards becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, further enriching his comprehensive expertise in player development.
Cameron's holistic approach to player development encompasses mental performance skills, career advisory, strength conditioning programming, in-season video review, and on-ice skills development.
